ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Miguel Rodrigo Mazuré (Lima, 1926–2014) was a pivotal figure in Peruvian modern architecture, widely celebrated for his innovative structural designs and significant contributions to Brutalism in Peru. Trained at the National School of Engineers (now National University of Engineering – UNI) and having worked at the prestigious firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in New York, Mazuré brought global modern influences to the Peruvian landscape. Demonstrating his holistic approach to space. His work is characterized by a “harmonic weighted singularity,” constantly seeking to push the relationship between structure, form, and space. ISA Bergamo (Industria Salotti e Arredamenti) was an influential Italian furniture manufacturer active primarily from the 1940s through the 1970s. Based in Ponte San Pietro, near Bergamo, the company became a staple of Mid-Century Modern design by bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and industrial innovation.

ABOUT THE STYLE: Mid-Century Modern (MCM) furniture is defined by a form follows function philosophy, blending organic shapes with clean, geometric lines. This style peaked between the 1940s and 1960s, reflecting a post-war desire for modernization and a connection to nature. Extensive use of high-quality woods like teak, walnut, and oak. It also pioneered industrial materials like molded plywood, fiberglass, tubular steel, and plastic. “Hairpin” legs or tapered “peg” legs are hallmarks, designed to lift furniture off the floor to create an airy, spacious feel. Lack of unnecessary ornamentation. Every curve or angle serves a purpose, whether for comfort or structural integrity.
