Leather seat Forged iron structure Comfortable and sculptural circa 1970 Good vintage condition François Thevenin was born in 1931 in Cote d’Azur. Thevenin is an exceptional architect, sculptor, and furniture designer who worked primarily in metal and wood since his early start in the 1960s. After training at the Beaux-Arts in Paris in the 1950s — where he met his future wife Gisèle Sidoti, known as Sido — he was, in 1958, drafted into the army, after which he and Sido moved to Cannes-la-Bocca, in the South of France. The furniture of François and Sido are Fine examples of slightly off centre Mid-Century Modern. A curious Pablo Picasso first visited their home and studio-workshop in the early 1960s to see their celebrated work. He was impressed and they became firm friends. Sido died in 1986. François died in 2016.
